MATT TIEGLER: The story of a fragmented manMatt is a self taught guitarist, singer and songwriter whose music celebrates a wide variety of influences from (in alpha order) Jeff Buckley, Elvis Costello & James Taylor to XTC. Matt began his musical career accidentally when a copy of a 4-track demo tape found it's way into a College Radio Station in Sweetwater, VA. The station (and Matt's songs) were broadcast 3 states wide. In 2000 "Gods & Heroes" Was recorded and released on Waterdog Music. Produced by (now Grammy nominated) Ralph Covert (of the Bad Examples & Ralph's World) Matt's debut CD was played on (non-commercial) radio stations from coast to coast. A national tour did not follow and record sales did not explode but critical praise was abundant - and isn't that better than a bucket of cash? Hello? In 2003 Matt put down his guitar and penned a two act comedy which was produced in Feb of 2004 in Chicago by the Noble Fool Theatre Company. Critical praise and a small bucket of cash followed. Matt has since picked the guitar back up, replaced the strings and has been writing his brains out. Demos of new tunes will be posted on the web-site soon.GODS & HEROES:Gods And Heroes was recorded at Uberstudio in Chicago, Gods and Heroes features some of Matt's longtime musical compatriots, some of Covert's bandmates and some of Chicago's finest percussionists & instrumentalists (Doug Brush, Andy Jones, Willie Schwartz, Brad Goode). The disc, released in April 2000, contains twelve original songs by Matt Tiegler which you can sample by clicking here.THEATREHis professional acting/comedy career began when he relocated back to Chicago with the legendary Improv Institute. Under the wings of Jack Bronis and Pat Musker, Matt soon became a familiar face on many stages across Chicago including The late Ivanhoe Theatre, The Royal George Theatre, The Noble Fool Theatre and The Chicago Improv Festival.
